Merchants Associate Donates Homemade Masks to Easterseals Iowa
April 10, 2020
During this uncertain time, Merchants Bonding Company associates are giving their time and talent to support our local communities. Commercial Underwriting Assistant Jeanne Schulte is putting her sewing skills to good use, already donating over 30 homemade masks to Easterseals Iowa. And she has no plans to slow down production!
“Sew, sew, sew like the wind! Immediately I knew that I had found somewhere I could help,”
says Jeanne. “I love to sew and I had most all the supplies on hand to make the masks, so I was happy to do something to help an organization in our community.”
Many clients rely on the daily services provided by Easterseals Iowa so that they may continue to live independently in their community. Easterseals’ direct support professionals continue to provide these essential services, and are taking every precaution to keep themselves and their clients healthy, including wearing masks when seeing their clients. “These are tough times, but our focus right now is on providing the care our clients need, keeping them safe and healthy, and if they get sick, helping them get the medical care they need,” says Easterseals Iowa Chief Development Officer Allison Piazza. “We are strong because of supporters like [Merchants Bonding Company].”
In 2018, the Merchants Bonding Company Foundation donated over $158,000 to Easterseals Iowa to purchase three new handicap accessible vans to support its Life Club program.
If you would like to join Jeanne in helping Easterseals by making masks, please contact Allison Piazza at 515-309-9774 or apiazza@eastersealsia.org to arrange a time for a no-contact pick up.
